- The Roof Framers Field Manual
Charleston inspector discovers there is no ridge vent.
It may not seem like a big find but the framers in their hurry forgot to cut the sheathing back about an inch on both sides at the top of this roof on this home in Charleston. It had a ridge vent installed but if you don't leave a space and cut the felt back not much air is going to escape. The lack of a ridge vent will make this attic hot and moist which will increase home energy costs as well as cause a moisture concern and increase the chance condensation will form on HVAC lines. Finding this on a one year inspection will save the homeowners cash. Probably pay for the cost of the inspection. Call Blue Palmetto Home Inspection today! We know what to look for.
