Handrail on Charleston home is improper
It doesn't seem like that big of a deal that the handrail doesn't return to the wall on this Charleston home except that this is a new home. Tradesmen and builders on new construction should be familiar with the 2003 international residential code by now. A return is required on the handrail to prevent clothing from catching on it and causing a fall. It pays to hire a home inspector! For more information on stairway safety see our educational blog page Charleston home inspector discusses stairway safety.
